Tillandsia riohondoensis has succulent leaves with a thick indumentum of trichomes that give them silvery look. When it blooms, T. riohondoensis becomes a pastel rose.  NOTE:This species was labeled as T. capitata Silver Rose from the 1970s until now. It was officially described in 2015 as a species by Renate Ehlers in the Deutsche Bromeliad Gesellschaft.
