Tillandsia rothii is simply one of the most spectacular tillandsias. As you can see from the one foot ruler, it can grow quite large and colorful. It is similar in shape to Tillandsia xerographica but the leaves are an attractive yellow-green and can blush to cherry red when blooming or grown in bright light conditions. This species is an introgressive hybrid between Tillandsia roland-gosselini and Tillandsia jaliscomonticola. The small plants are ten years old from seeds and the large plants are vegetative offsets which mean they will mature more quickly.
