Tillandsia Species
Status: 3

Tillandsia retrorsa (ray-TROR-sa) is a rare, wonderfully fragrant blooming species that is native to Brazil. It is similar in appearance to T. duratii but it is easy to tell apart because the leaf tips do not curl back into ringlets. It is also similar to T. streptocarpa but T. arhiza has wider, stiffer leaves and usually grows to be much larger. Our plants are large specimens that are well over 30 cm (one foot). This plant has previously been known as T. arhiza but it has not been reclassified. Tillandsia arhiza is a small plant from Paraguay.
