Vriesea
espinosae
is the smaller growing form of this species, the other being from Ecuador.
You can see from the photo that offsets are produced at the end of very
long stolons which is a most interesting and attractive aspect of this
species. It likes bright light and "good" water if indoors.
Don't mist it. Rather, run it under the faucet two or three times a
week and submerge it overnight every month or so. Of course, outdoors
treat it like the rest of the plants.
