Tillandsia
recurvifolia
certainly has a long name, doesn't it? It means the "leaves almost
curve in one direction." Until recently, this species was knows
as Tillandsia meridionalis and it still is by many. What was
it Shakespeare said, "A Tillandsia by any other name is
still a Tillandsia?" Whatever, this is one great plant
because the bloom is such a brilliant pink. Many years ago in Paraguay,
while in the Great Chaco, a vast expense of dry scrubbiness, you could
see the bright bloom of a Tillandsia recurvifolia from 200
meters away! This one is easier to grow outdoors. If you have it inside,
don't mist it and water it with "good" water, that is, not
water high is salts.
