What a tremendous species Tillandsia secunda is. As you can see from the photos, it can grow to be very large, over 90 CM. The enormous, brilliantly colored inflorescence can last for up to a year! And Tillandsia secunda is the only species that will produce a prodigious number of offsets on the inflorescence itself, sometimes up to 50-60! It grows a thick, wiry root system that anchors it firmly to a tree branch when attached as a small plant. The sight of several year old specimens in spike on a branch is breathtaking!
