Tillandsia bulbosa is one of the most popular species. The leaves are bright green and the leaf sheaths are covered with silver trichomes and the edges of the sheaths are etched in purple. When it blooms, the entire upper part of the plant and the inflorescence become bright red in order to attract the hummingbird pollinators.
