This
hybrid has lots of great things going for it. It is easy to grow,
and
doesn't get huge. When coming into bloom it turns a frosty red. Frosty
because Tillandsia seleriana has a covering of large trichomes
(the white fuzz on the leaves) and red because both parents turn
red when
coming
into
bloom, especially T. ionantha. This hybrid is named for
my close friend,
Tina Parr, who recently passed away in January, 2005 after a long battle
with cancer; she was just 41. Tina was a happy, gentle and most unselfish
person.
