|
| This
graceful Tillandsia is a the only hybrid we know of between
two species of the miniature Tillandsia subgenus, Diaphoranthema.
It is a hybrid between Spanish Moss, Tillandsia usneoides,
and Ball Moss, Tillandsia recurvata. Both of these species grow
in the Southern U.S. and the cross was made by Mark Dimmitt a number
of years ago. The leaves are silvery and this Tillandsia grows
into a beautiful clump. Tillandsia Kimberly was named for Paul's
daughter who is an top athlete and plays competitive volleyball.
